I really can't belive I'm writing this post already. I feel like I just started working on my September goals. And now tomorrow is the first day of October. This has been a busy month and it just flew by. I did pretty well making an effort to use a variety of fruits and veggies. Justin even commented one night, "I'm not used to this two veggie thing" when I made two vegetables with our dinner instead of one :P So there was some noticeable change. It's also been fun to let Rebecca gradually try more and more. She has enjoyed eating beans, tomatoes and peppers fresh from the garden. I'm so happy she is such a good veggie eater, and all around eater so far. If she grows up eating good stuff she won't want the bad stuff. Now I know why Justin can't stand canned vegetables. He grew up only eating veggies from the garden. And they are soooo much better. I also squeezed veggie purees into some of our meals. That helps too.
I have been doing lots of canning. Peaches, pearsauce, salsa and spaghetti sauce. Peaches are done. I have used up all of our tomatoes. I'm hoping to get one more batch of pears at the orchard this weekend and do more pearsauce and some dried pears. Then it's on to apples!
We have been plenty busy this month, getting out and seeing people. Kindermusik is so much fun! Rebecca and I both have a blast. We've had people over for dinner. We've gone to several parks. I'm getting more involved with church stuff...nursery committee (I just became the co-chair), BLAST (helping teach jr. high sunday school again) and possibly helping with our church newsletter. Yesterday we went to the library in the afternoon (hadn't done that all summer). Rebecca LOVED it. She could have stayed there for hours playing with the toys and readin books. That will be a great cold weather activity that is very close to home. We walk there as long as the weather isn't too bad. Tomorrow we are visiting my grandparents. And Friday MOPS starts.
For something creative I've worked on a couple cakes this month. That sure was fun! We'll see when I get to do another one. I always have ideas floating around in my head of designs and techniques I want to try. Not too much other creative stuff. But today I might try to get some pictures organized/put in albums (we finally printed some new pictures...it had been 7 months!) and sew a button back on Rebecca's shirt.
Still working on day-to-day stuff with the OCD. It's amazing how much your mindset can change in one month. It is MUCH less of a focus now. It's hard to believe now how things were just a couple months ago. I am very thankful for the changes I have made over the last few months. God is really working on me. And I think it's only the beginning :) It is also getting easier to be more spontaneous to just go with things. This morning I had planned to get some food in the crockpot, jog on the treadmill, shower and get myself ready before breakfast (by 6am) so that once Rebecca got up I could get her ready, go to Kindermusik, have lots of playtime, etc. But she woke up at 3:45 and I ended up rocking with her until about 6 to get her back to sleep. So nothing in the crockpot. No morning workout. I managed to get a 5 min. shower while Justin rocked with her and she called for mama :P But such is life. I can jog later. I can get the food going later. At least Rebecca got more sleep. That's what's important. It may not be the morning I had planned. But that's ok. We'll still have fun.
Well, that sums it up. I guess I did pretty well with the goals this month. And I'm sure most of them will be ongoing things. Now I need to figure out what's on the agenda for next month :)
I printed a ton of pictures recently, too, and getting them into frames and albums is also one of my to-dos these next couple of weeks! :)
