Almost the end of May. And it sounds like summer weather is on the way! It's supposed to be 90 today...not what I want. Can't we just have some normal spring weather...a little sun and 70's? It's one extreme or the other. I guess I'll have to keep my oven use to a minimum this week.
Still adjusting to life with a baby. Last week I was able to do a little more. I made a trip to the grocery store with both kids. I did a little baking. I walked outside or on the treadmill almost every day (even did a little jogging yesterday and today!!). And we drove to Livonia yesterday for a wedding. It was only 2.5 hours away, but it took us almot 4 hours both ways with diaper changes, nursing, potty stops, etc. Made for a very long day. But both kids did well. Rebecca was beyond excited to get to meet a real bride. And she really wanted to catch the bouquet. Julia was nice enough to give Rebecca a rose out of her actual bouquet. It was fun to meet many of Justin's relatives and celebrate with them. But I think my tummy is really paying for it today (travel, odd schedules, unsafe food, etc.). Hopefully I can get back on track this week. Last week I finally got our pork and beef ordered. It should be ready mid June. I also ordered some Norwex cleaning products. If you haven't heard of them you should check them out. I'm very excited to get my stuff and try it. I'm all for easier, green cleaning. I wrote/mailed thank you notes. And we made/ordered/got our birth announcements. I have to start sending those out this week.
Not really much going on this week. No plans for the holiday. We might go to the small local parade. With this hot weather maybe we'll have to spend some time at the park or the library or something. And I guess we'll see if we need a trip to the ped. Abram woke up with green junk all around his eye this morning. I hope he doesn't have pink eye or anything. Today is supposed to finally be our first day to go to church with him. Debating now if I should take him or not. We'll see. I need to go to the grocery store some day this week, but not sure which day yet. We really don't need much. Just a little fresh produce.
In terms of food this week I really need to get back on track with more strict GAPS and eating broth regularly. I've been slacking here and there...and I can tell. So I'm starting off the week with some good beef soup :) Soup bones are in the crockpot right now. We are supposed to be getting one meal from a fellow MOPS mom, but I haven't heard anything for sure/what day. So I just planned all my meals and I'll adjust things if we end up getting something. If time allows I might do a little baking. It's something fun to do with Rebecca. Maybe the weather will determine that, though. I really need to feed my kefir and sourdough this week. Haven't done it since I left for the hospital. Next week is the first week our farmer's market is open!! I can't wait for that. Easy meals this week. We didn't actually eat dinner last night ("lunch" was around 3:00) so I'm still using up some leftovers tonight. Mostly trying to get lots of nourishing food on the table. Abram is likely going through the typical 2-3 week growth spurt...and he has quite the appetitie!! So I need to feed myself well too.

ReplyDeleteTry expressing a little breast milk into Abram's eye. If its pink eye, it'll clear it right up. You can use raw cows milk for that, too.
Enjoy the nice weather this week! I'm so excited its finally hot. we'd have normally had plenty of hot weather by now!
Thanks for the reminder, Sara. I had read that before about the bm. I just tried it. Hopefully it will work!
ReplyDeleteI don't want it too hot...no fun with a small baby.
Hope it worked!!
ReplyDeleteYou guys should get a/c. Seems like you are always so uncomfortable when it gets hot. Even just a window unit downstairs would do a lot.
Have a great holiday today! Hope you're able to make it to the parade! I wish we had one close by!
Yes, his eye is looking MUCH better. Breastmilk...what a marvelous thing :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, AC would be nice. Maybe someday :P For now we use fans and our upstairs unit. We get by.
Our "parade" lasts about 60 seconds, literally. I almost missed it b/c I was finishing feeding Abram. Got to the end of the street as the band was walking by (the end of it). It consisted of police cars, veterans, a softball team and one band :) The main attraction is the ceremony at the cemetary after the parade. We didn't go to that this year.
