Meal Plans Week of 11-14-10

The start of a new week.  I feel like I'm starting to come back to life.  Still feeling better with each passing week.  But still not out of the woods yet.  Evenings are still pretty rough.  By 8pm my body is ready for bed...even though that's not possible with a little girl that's still up :P  I still need a nap every day.  But I keep making progress.  Last week I was actually able to do quite a bit.  I had some form of outing every single day, and multiple places to go many days.  And since our plans for a playdate fell through and it didn't work out to visit my grandparents we ended up running a lot of errands.  I also did pretty well with my start of trying to find some balance.  I did some baking.  But I also made time to do some extra cleaning.  I cleaned our dishes cupboard so it is more organized.  And I cleaned about 2/3 of the refrigerator.  Two things that I've needed to do for a while.  I also got my sewing machine to work!  And went to the fabric store and picked out a couple projects.  I'm hoping to get started on one this week.  I hope it turns out well.  Rebecca and I also finished our OCC shoe box.  And did a couple crafts.  We've had a little extra play time this week too...since Rebecca is still not adjusting to the time change.  She's been up around 6:45/7 most days instead of 8.  At least being up so early she's been napping very well :P  Trying to get through this post since I hear her rustling already at 6:30...sigh.

I also went to a cloth diapering class yesterday.  Very informative.  And confirmed that I definitely want to go that route with baby #2.  And it confirmed my diaper choices that I had made after my own research.  Very excited about it!

One other big thing last week was that we got our first gallon of raw milk!  And we LOVE it!!!  Wow, I never knew milk could taste so good.  Even Justin likes it, despite being skeptical :)  I hope in a couple weeks we'll be able to go up to 2 shares.  Right now we have to ration the good stuff :)  It was fun to visit the farm and see all the calves.  It'll be a nice weekly outing.

On to this week.  Not quite as much going on as last week, but still keeping plenty busy.  Today is church.  Monday is groceries, and I have a nursery cmt meeting.  Tuesday is milk pick up.  Wednesday is Kindermusik, and Justin has worship team and discernment team at church.  Friday is MOPS.  We might be rescheduling our playdate for Tues. or Thurs. this week...depends if everyone is healthy :)

Not sure what extras in the kitchen I'll be doing this week.  I'd really like to make more granola...both regular and grain free.  We're out of both.  If Rebecca and I are home Thursday morning I think that will be our project.  She loves making granola.  I also have some buttermilk to use up.  Still figuring out what to do with that.  Maybe pancakes?  Or maybe breakfast cookies.  I'd also like to make some hot fudge.  We've been out of that for quite a while now.  And now that I'm starting to eat ice cream again it's good to have on hand :)  And speaking of ice cream.  Now that we're getting good milk with lots of cream I might have enough to make some homemade ice cream this week.  We'll see.  Rebecca loves to help with that too :)  Friday out of the blue she brought her stool to my stand mixer and started "making" ice cream on her own.  She actually has the recipe memorized!  She told me she was adding egg yolks, then cream, then vanilla, etc.  Very cute.
Breakfasts will still probably be day-to-day.  But I'll update plans as the week goes.  I'm so happy that eggs are finally sounding good for breakfast again!  Specifically fried eggs.  I haven't had toast for breakfast in almost a week.  I must be making progress :)

Other than that I'd like to start on my sewing project.  And finish cleaning the refrigerator.  And possibly do more crafts with Rebecca.  She really likes to glue :P  The other thing is to start making my packing list and myabe even start packing by the end of the week for our trip to WI next week.

Well, I hear her stirring.  Here's what's on the mneu.

  1. Must have been refrigerator cleaning week last week... I cleaned about half of mine last week, too. :)

Very exciting about the cloth diapers! I had looked into them about a year ago and seriously considered switching over with Carson, but didn't think we'd have been in diapers so long, so decided it wasn't worth it. We'll definitely do them if we end up having a second baby. I had liked the bumGenious, too.

Glad you guys all love the milk! Hope you can increase your share very soon! You will LOVE the ice cream, I'm sure. I've made ice cream a couple of times with ours. Carson and I made vanilla frozen yogurt on Thursday using my homemade yogurt and some raw cream... YUM!

Have you made poached eggs before? I've never had them.

  2. Apparently my reply didn't post. I'll try again.

Nope, never had or made poached eggs. Justin mentioned them the other day, so I thought I'd give it a try.

Hard to decide b/t the bumGenius and Fuzzibunz. Many say it depends on the build of your child. I want to try both. We got to see, touch, etc. a lot of kinds yesterday. So stinkin' cute and soft! Can't wait to try them. Plus a huge money and energy saver. The lady that did the class says it takes an equivalant of one washer load of water to make ONE disposable diaper. Never knew that. So washing 15 at once is actually saving a lot of water :)
