End of Month Recap - July 2013

My goal for July ended up being to just get through it.  Not much of a goal it seems.  But it was all I could handle.  And I did it...I got through it.  We had some really fun times.  We went to several parks, to the beach, to WI to visit family, cherry picking, to the library, to the farmer's market, to Lansing to see cousins, to the 4th of July parade.

But there was also a dark cloud over everything.  My spirits are much higher ending the month than they were starting the month.  I'm doing ok accepting the way things are.  But I still have my moments of wondering "what if."  I try not to go there.  But sometimes I can't help it.

I'm still in the recovery process.  I wish my physical recovery wasn't taking so long.  I'm trying to be patient.

But I know through all of this God is teaching me new things and bringing me closer to the healing I've longed for.  I still have a long road ahead of me.  But I have faith and hope that God has some great things planned.  He gives me little reminders each day (I call them God whispers) to not give up hope.  And even just this week I got a great reminder to be patient.  God keeps his promises.  I have to trust that.  And look at my two miracle children each day to help me remember.

So in some ways this was the worst month of my life.  In other ways it was very good.  I'm hoping next month things return to normal and I can continue to heal.

Now for a few good reads from some fellow bloggers and my posts from the month in case you missed them.

****LINKS****

-> Foaming liquid handsoap from Homemade Mommy.  This is so easy.  It's pretty much how I make our handsoap at home.

-> Foods that affect thyroid from The Nourished Life.  I do well with most of these, but I didn't know about millet!!!  I eat bread with millet quite often.  I may have to rethink that now :/

-> Some simple tips for dealing with a leaky gut from The Sprouting Seed.

-> A gluten free bread machine recipe from Wellness and Workouts.  I need to try making gluten free bread this way.  I just need to figure out how to do it WITHOUT xanthan gum.  I don't trust that stuff :P  Not to mention I don't tolerate any gums very well.

-> Lots of reasons why salt is GOOD for you from Empowered Sustenance.  I have been talking about salt a lot lately with family members.  My opinion...pile it on :)  But only if it's real salt.  My kids beg to eat it plain.

-> A ton of blueberry recipes from Rethink Simple.  It's blueberry season!

-> An interview with Giada De Laurentiis from Gigi Eats Celebrities.  Who knew she loves coconut oil as much as I do? :)  And I just think she's fun to listen to.  She's a great example of having a good relationship with food and finding balance.
