Extra Easy Hummus

Last night for dinner I made hummus.  This is the only regular hummus recipe I've ever made (I made red pepper hummus before with a different recipe).  It's so simple, so yummy, and I always have the ingredients on hand.  Even Rebecca loves this, especially on pita bread.  I got this recipe years ago.  It might be from All Recipes, but I can't remember.  I've made it many times, and everyone always likes it.  And you can make it to your liking...add as much seasoning as you want.  I made it a bit before dinner and then let it sit in the refrigerator to let the flavors blend.  I just took a quick picture of it in the bowl, not as I served it.  Doesn't look pretty, but it sure tastes good.

Extra Easy Hummus

1 (15 oz.) can chick peas, drained, liquid reserved (or chick peas soaked and cooked)
1 clove garlic, crushed (I use a little garlic and some garlic powder)
1 tsp. cumin
1/2 tsp. salt (I use a little more than this)
2 - 5 Tbsp. olive oil
lemon juice (I add a very small amount, sometimes leave it out)

In a food processor combine beans, garlic, cumin, salt, oil and lemon juice.  Blend on low, gradually adding bean liquid until desired consistency.

  1. I've never made regular hummus without tahini. Maybe I'll try this recipe sometime... and now that you mention it, I don't think I've ever posted the plain hummus recipe I usually use... I'll have to do that sometime. I'm still so behind on posting, though... I still have stuff from December that I haven't posted!
