Meal Plans Week of 2-14-10

Whew, the cakes and parties are done!  Time to get my house and life back in order :P  This week I'll be focusing on catching up on things at home.  But there is also plenty of other stuff.  I thought it would be a low key week, but all of a sudden it's filling up quickly.  I have to go grocery shopping, drop off a meal for a friend, make some goodies for a friend, I have nursery cmt on Monday night, a playdate on Tuesday, Kindermusik on Wednesday, MOPS on Friday and possibly another basketball game and out to eat with my family on Saturday.

I cooked some of our home grown beans last week.  They turned out pretty mushy.  Not sure if it's from the quality of the beans or if I just cooked them too long.  Either way they aren't the best as is.  I'll be making them into a puree to freeze and use in things like casseroles, dips, etc.  If time allows this week I'd like to cook and can more beans.  Not sure how much other extra stuff I'll have time for.  I'm hoping to do some baking today for a friend and drop that off with a meal tomorrow.  I might try using my mixer for my baking today.  I'm having problems getting to work properly.  It acts like the beater is hitting the bowl, but when nothing is in the mixer it doesn't.  I tried adjusting the beater height, but it didn't help.  So I need to try some other recipes.  The last two things I tried making were really thick, so that may have been the problem.  I have a bunch of frosting and icing to use up now, so at some point I want to make more cake or cupcakes.  But I don't know if it will happen this week.

Still working on varying our breakfasts.  I think we had 3 non-cereal breakfasts last week.  If I keep up this half and half thing (3 or 4 different breakfasts a week) that will really cut down on how much we spend on cereal.  Plus we'll be eating a variety of other healthy food.

Other than food stuff this week I need to clean, clean, clean!!  Laundry is piled high.  Sheets and towels need to be changed.  There is still clean laundry from last week that needs to be put away.  The bathrooms really need to be cleaned.  All kinds of stuff.  Hopefully over the next few days I can get everything back in working order.

On to the meals for this week.  Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

S - (church, get caught up/laundry/clean, bake) - beef roast w/ carrots, red potatoes and onion in the crockpot (lunch); soup and grilled cheese (Justin), salad (me) (dinner)
M - (drop off meal, Meijer, laundry, clean bathrooms, make vanilla wafers prep dinner/clean up early, early dinner, nursery cmt) - cinnamon applesauce muffins and mixed fruit (breakfast); polenta and pinto bean pie w/ sour cream and avocado dip, fruit (dinner) Justin is not feeling very good.  He's back in bed now instead of going to work.  So I probably won't make much for dinner...maybe leftovers from yesterday's lunch or dinner for Rebecca and me...and whatever sounds good for Justin.
T - (playdate, clean) - cinnamon applesauce muffins and mixed fruit (from freezer) (breakfast); crockpot pea soup, homemade soft pretzels (from freezer)
W - (KM, meatless) - polenta and pinto bean pie w/ sour cream and avocado dip, fruit
Th - (cook/can beans, class) - leftovers
F - (MOPS, clean) - leftover polenta and pinto bean pie
S - (clean, laundry, game?, out to eat) - dinner out with family takeout or something from the freezer

  1. The meals sound great this week, as always!

Sorry to hear Justin's not feeling well! I hope Joel didn't really have the flu (Julie said he wasn't feeling well the rest of the night and got sick in the night again on Saturday night). He was feeling ok by morning, though. Hope Justin feels better soon!!
