Homemade Costs - Part 1

I still have a lot of cost calculating to do when I find the time, but here is what I have so far for homemade costs.  Whether things are cheaper or more expensive than what you can buy I think it's nice to have homemade food.  You know exactly what's in it.  And it's fun to make!  And when you know exactly how much something costs you can try to figure out how to make it cheaper if necessary or know that you should use it sparingly/only make it as a treat once in a while.

Granola - 12 - 14 cups
(with oats, flax seed, sunflower seeds, mixed nuts, honey, maple syrup, wheat bran, coconut and raisins)
$10.75
**Just to give a comparison here...at our co-op a 72 oz. bag (about 9 cups) of homemade granola is $35!

Whole Wheat Graham Crackers - 1 batch  (2 full baking pans)
$3.50

Wheat Thins - 1 batch (2 full baking pans)

  1. Awesome!! Thanks for posting these! I'm going to be making a batch of granola in the next week or two since I'm planning to do yogurt/fruit/granola parfaits for the breakfast that I'm responsible for when we go camping. What a savings!
