The end of July. This has been one HOT month. Definitely felt like summer with heat, pools and vacation. I tried to accomplish most of my goals and enjoy family time. Here's how it went.
FOOD
1.
Balance - I will continue to work on balance. I will focus my
attention on things other than food. I will not obsess over eating the "right"
or "wrong" food. I will not binge on food. I will eat normally, feel satisfied
and learn what hungry and full really feel like. I continue to learn a lot about my body and my relationship with food. It's a work in progress, but I'm getting there.
I've been doing fairly well with this. But I still struggle with knowing when I'm full. I'm not that in tune with my body yet.
2. Rebecca's
Recipes - continue to let Rebecca plan one meal a week. check.
3.
Sourdough - I need to find some new sourdough recipes to
try. I made a few of the standard recipes I have. I still need to do some searching.
4. Food preservation - I froze blueberries, zucchini, corn, beans and blueberry topping.
5. Eat in season - check.
6. Eat for nutrition -
I will be focusing on foods that are rich in minerals. I am finding that no matter what I eat I will not start getting better until I can supplement some of the vitamins and minerals I need. I'm really trying to get magnesium and potassium rich foods in my diet. But it's tough with my digestive limitations. I can really tell when I get more and less, though. It makes a huge impact on my mood.
HEALTH
1. Continue to push myself
out of my comfort zone/defeat OCD - friends, outings, playdates. This will also
include family outings. check.
2. Supplements - I will continue to take cod
liver oil and vitamins. I will research magnesium and potassium supplements. check.
FAMILY/PERSONAL
Rebecca
a. Continue her
encouragement chart to help focus on the positive/good things she does. We got out of the habit of doing this. But we're starting to get back to it. It really does help her.
b.
Eating - teach Rebecca to eat until she's full and not have to clear her
plate. check.
c. Mommy-daughter date - we walked to Cone World. We had blast skipping and jumping and talking and sharing ice cream. We also ran into friends that live in CA!! (they are visiting family right now). So we got to talk to them as well while we had our ice cream.
d. dance class and swimming
lessons. We had our last dance class yesterday. Rebecca really enjoyed both swimming and dance.
Abram
a. Work on
development/milestones - talking. Abram has quite a few "words" now. They still aren't super clear, but his vocabulary is definitely expanding. Even though he doesn't say a lot he understands sooooo much. It really amazes me. He seems a lot older than he really is with how much he understands, how well he can follow directions and how active he is.
b. Organize closet. Still didn't get to this one :P
Me
a. Writing - Continue writing for
GRNL and RFAH magazine. check.
b.
Sewing/hobbies - I finally finished Rebecca's dress!
c. This was not on my original list, but I went through my own drawers and closet and got rid of a bunch of stuff. I still had clothes from high school! It sure felt good to get things organized and see what I really have. I may have to do some shopping come fall :)
Great job on your goals - it looks like it was a fantastic month! Glad you were able to fit in your mom-daughter date, too. Did you run into the Koll's kids?
ReplyDeleteI totally need/want to go through all of my clothes, too. It is just a low priority right now. But I need to do a little bit soon, before I go back to work, at least. I have to figure out what work pants will fit since my normal knit capris and shorts won't be acceptable. Too bad!
No, we saw some people that used to go to Seymour and we knew at Calvin. They moved to CA b/c he is a pastor. But her parents still live here and go to Seymour. I'm glad we got to go. Justin and Rebecca spent so much time together on vacation b/c I had to take care of Abram/do nap times with him. And she even did Legos with Justin all morning on Sunday. So it was nice to be able to spend a little time with her one-on-one again. Abram wasn't too happy about it, though :P I hope he does ok today when I go see my psychologist.
ReplyDeleteI love my "mom" wardrobe :) I don't miss work clothes one bit! In fact I got rid of a bunch of button downs. I had so many for work, but I never wear them now. It was tempting to get rid of all of them. I just don't think they are that flattering on me anyway. I really did get rid of a lot. My closet is looking very bare now.
