Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!!!  Definitely one I won't forget :)  Feels weird not having any meal plans to post...and not doing any meal planning over the last week.  So this  is just a quick update post...because I feel like rambling and attempting to distract myself from thinking about tomorrow.

We had a fairly relaxing week last week.  Mostly by necessity since I can't do much :P  I didn't make it to MOPS or Tulip Time.  But that's the way it goes.  All of the baby prep is done.  The countdown is on.  Less than 24 hours until we go to the hospital.  I think we're ready.  As ready as we can be.

On the health front, I have had a very up and down week.  Lots of tummy issues.  But over the last few days I've really adjusted my diet to be as nourishing and easy to digest as possible.  And I think it's finally helping.  Yesterday I had 4 raw egg yolks plus more cooked eggs.  I'll likely have another 4 yolks today (already had 2).  They are so full of nutrients/vitamins and require basically no digestion.  The perfect food for me and baby :)  My intake of fiber has been pretty limited since that's the hardest to digest.  Very soft/liquidy foods.  Lots of probiotics.  Trying to get plenty of good fat.  Very low sugar (maybe 1-2 tsp. of honey plus a little fruit).  Hopefully it will be enough to help me out while I'm in the hospital and have to get antibiotics and eat whatever they have to offer (plus a few "safe" snacks I have packed :).  Eating less at a time has helped too since my tummy is so squished right now.  I know I'll be very anxious to get home from the hospital and get back on track with good food by the end of the week.

I didn't do much extra in the kitchen.  Just grain free breakfast cookies, crispy cashews and macadamia nuts, honey mustard dressing and hummus.  Plus I fed my sourdough and made more kefir.

I mostly focused on getting the house ready.  Everything is clean.  The laundry is done and put away.  All of the food for the week is prepped and organized.  The bags are packed.

So today is just relaxing and enjoying our last Mother's Day as a family of 3 :)  None of us are going to church.  Unfortunately Rebecca seems to have caught a minor cold (I think it's almost gone already, but still wouldn't want to put her in Little Lambs)...which she has passed on to me (really NOT good timing...but I think it's a very minor cold).  (Ironic how we've been healthy all winter and then catch something in May just before the baby comes :P  At least we eat well and take our daily CLO to keep our immune systems up...so I don't think this will turn into much.)  Plus I can't sit in church anyway.  And Justin is going to stay home with us.  Looks like it is going to be a beautiful day, so hopefully we can enjoy some more time outside.  And tonight my parents will be here to have dinner with us and get settled/ready to take care of Rebecca the next couple days.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful moms out there!  And I pray for God's peace and blessings on those that still desire to be a mother or who have lost their mother.  I feel truly blessed to still have my mother and to be a mother.  God is good.

  1. Happy (belated) Mother's Day, Mary! Sounds like you had a perfect Mother's Day. Hope your colds cleared up quickly. Glad you guys stayed fairly healthy this winter, too... just a few colds in there compared to all that sickness last winter - what a change, huh?! :) We have been fortunate for the last couple of years. Our diets really do make such a difference.
